While reported a couple of weeks ago that actress Halle Berry had split from baby daddy and model, Gabriel Aubry, they have both agreed to continue raising their 2 year old, Nahla, together as much as possible. Recently the trio enjoyed Disneyland in Anaheim, CA.
When parents part, it’s vital that the children don’t feel the brunt of the split. Here are some great ways to mimimize the trauma to your kids if you’re faced with a break up:
Lay down ground rules: Not only do you have to contend with the fact that you and you lover are no longer an item, but you need to make sure that any kids you’ve been raising together are taken into consideration. Set up a schedule that includes both of you equally in your child’s life such as attending the school play sitting next to each other (if you can deal with that.)
Be honest, but discretionary: Depending on how old your kids are, they need to be made aware of what’s happening in your life because it involves them, too. Keep the conversation appropriate for their level, and if you promise to go on a trip together, then do it. If you tell them they are going to have private time with the other parent, then make sure that happens.
No one’s fault: Never make your children feel like any of this is their fault. They aren’t the ones breaking up, you are. This is vital to any chance at successfully forming two separate house-holds .

However you choose to dissolve your relationship, the most important thing is to remain a positive member of your child’s life. There’s no way to prevent problems, but these are some ways to make it a little easier for everyone. After all the hype in the media in recent weeks as to whether or not they’re sticking it out, US Weekly has confirmed today that Heidi Montag, a reality tv personality, has officially filed for a legal separation from ‘The Hills’ star, Spencer Pratt.  It must be included that TMZ says they have a PDF of the paperwork, and Us Weekly, suggests that this may be another publicity stunt for this duo to stay in the news.

If you ever find yourself  in the middle of a tumultuous relationship that you just can’t make a final decision on, there are ways to make up your mind:

Set some boundaries: Make it clear that you’re done with constant back and forth emotions, and that limits must be set on any negative connotations meant to instigate a battle.  This is a simple, yet effective way to figure out if your mate is truly willing to take your pairing seriously.

Be strong : You want to be treated with respect, and love but maybe these things aren’t happening in your relationship.  Explain to your partner that you wish to remain a couple, but change is necessary.  If they aren’t able to fulfill your needs, that could be a telling sign. 

Follow through: Many times, people who are adamant about leaving a relationship agree to stay a little while longer when their partner promises to make changes.  This decision is fine as long as you remain clear about your needs and don’t fall back into the same pattern again.

Whatever your intentions, no relationship is foolproof.  Both people must be willing to maintain the new rules for a successful relationship.  There is also a possibility that one or both of you suffer from a condition far more serious called, commitment phobia.

Based on a variety of news reports from sources like People Magazine and Huffington Post, neither Cameron Diaz, known for her role in, ‘There’s Something about Mary,’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ nor Alex Rodriguez, of the New York Yankees, have confirmed a committed relationship.  However, they’ve often been seen together and do not deny frequent overnight stays at their respective homes and multiple hotels around the country.

Given A-Rod’s history of non-committal relationships with Hollywood women (eg Madonna, Kate Hudson), we’ll have to wait and see if this relationship develops into anything serious.  If you’re dating someone and want to know if the person is serious about you, there are ways to find out:

Ask: You’ll never learn the answer to a question if you simply wait for it to reveal itself.  You need to speak up and say what’s on your mind – even if the answer you receive is not the one you expected.

Have a plan: Wanting a relationship and knowing what to do with one are two completely different creatures.  For instance, you are dating what seems to be the man of your dreams, but you find that he is only interested in a casual affair.  You need to know that if you disagree, it’s acceptable to end things there.

Patience and Success: Being patient is an important step for any successful couple, but if you’ve been with someone for years and there’s no sign of commitment heading your way, your tolerance may grow thin.  Be clear about your intentions and stand by them.

It’s entirely possible that Diaz and A-Rod are simply BFF’s and enjoy spending time together.  We may never know the truth.  We can, however, take some tips from their publicly viewed relationship and apply it to our own, uncertain love life.

7. Schindler’s List. Because he’s living with his parents, Jerry and his girlfriend can’t get any alone time. They have to make out in the most heart-wrenching film of the last 20 years.

10. Yada yada yada. Elaine uses “yada yada yada” as a stand-in for bland, one-time sex. The phrase comes to mean, “One thing led to another but I won’t bore you with the details.”

Despite rumors (or were they?) circling the media last August that Chelsea Clinton wed long time boyfriend, Marc Mezvinsky at Martha’s Vineyard last summer, the Clinton camp has denied that the union ever took place.  However, rumor has it again that the couple will REALLY wed this summer, although the duo are keeping very quiet about the details.

Former first daughter and fiancé, Mark have known each other since they were teens, even attending Stanford University together.  After so many years as friends and lovers, how did she convince Mezvinsky to pop the ultimate question?  Here are some possible ways to get your significant other to make this life changing decision:

Keep it honest

You are with the guy/girl of your dreams and you know you will be together forever in your heart, so to assist your other half in knowing that you are what you seem, maintain a bond of truth between each other.  When the time comes for the next step in your romance, they’ll believe your feelings as well as their own.

Manage your time together

With work obligations, bills to pay, and for single parents, children to take care of, it can be difficult to find time during the week to simply enjoy each other’s company.  Make time for one another by planning a ‘date night’ every Friday or taking a cooking class on Tuesdays.  Quality is often more essential than quantity.

Speak up

No matter how well your realtionship seems to be going, you won’t be able to go further, if you don’t take the time to initiate the possibility of a more lasting bond.  If you’ve been with your significant other for months, or even years, like Clinton and Mezvinsky, the situation can often turn comfortable.  By explaining your wants and desires clearly, it could bring you closer to becoming husband and wife.

No matter how many times we’ve heard that opposites attract, we’re still slightly confused when a pair of stars from seemingly opposite ends of the celebrity universe combine.

Eli is an actor, screenwriter, director, producer, and animator who has been earning praise for his talent since he was a film student at NYU. Aside from being a columnist, Peaches’ list of accomplishments includes getting married in Vegas (and divorcing a year later), being one of the top 10 fashion icons of 2006 (according to Tattler) and winning the #53 spot on FHM’s countdown of the sexiest women in the world in 2007. Then there’s the fact that she turned 21 less than 2 months ago, which makes her 17 years his junior. 2) Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner
She’s just a girl and he’s just a boy, but the attraction between this couple is anything but obvious. She’s an edgy rocker who’s making her mark on music and fashion. He, on the other hand, is best known for his time on a reality TV show and his famous father. It’ll be interesting to watch, but we wouldn’t start planning the wedding just yet.

3) Madonna and Jesus Luz
The Material Girl’s newest boy toy is a super-hot model and skilled DJ. He fits Madge’s pattern of the sexy younger man. Sure, we didn’t exactly predict this paring, but then again, we never guessed she would have been with any of her past paramours either. Madonna is the queen of reinvention, and she’s a tough woman to figure out. 4) Courteney Cox and David Arquette
These two seem to balance each other out. Cox has a reputation for being serious and Arquette is known for being a bit of a goofball. Despite their different personalities and a 7-year age gap, these two seem towork well together—both in business and as parents to their daughter Coco. Another thing the opposites have in common? 5) Abbie Cornish and Josh Hartnett
OK, we’re not really sure if they’re dating or not. If they are, though, we’d be surprised because this would be the first time that we’ve though of either one of them (individually) in years. New Couple Alert: Josh Hartnett And Abbie Cornish?

6) Yoko Ono and John Lennon
We think one of the reasons why Yoko is still vilified by many as the woman who broke up the Fab Four might be because nobody really got why they were together in the first place. We don’t like what we don’t understand, right? He was a British hippie and worldwide icon, and she was….who, exactly? Here are some facts (per Wikipedia) that might make the marriage more comprehensible. She is an artist—a musician like John might be attracted to her creativity—and she supports gay rights and AIDS outreach as well as peace in general. People may have been surprised by their union, but we think that in true Flower Child style, they proved that love knows no bounds. Despite differences in nationality, background, and career, these two had a strong connection.

Crystal Bowersox has amazed audiences for the past several weeks on American Idol with her unique renditions of music, past and present.  As the final show neared, tension between her and longtime boyfriend, Tony Kusian, resulted in a break-up, just hours before the finale.

Relationships come in all shapes and sizes and trying to keep it going can be rough in any situation.  Bowersox was competing for a new lifestyle for her and her son, and a boyfriend wasn’t going to get in her way.  That is dedication to her craft, and to her future.  While her love life has snagged on her current path, she is the type of gal who will strive for success and undoubtedly find a new man to share it with before too long.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world may not have it quite so easy.  We’re not famous, or competing to become a celebrity, but our relationships can be just as challenging.  Look around at people close to you.  If you see couples everywhere and you are still single, you might consider asking them what their secret is to longevity in love.  If, however, you find a myriad of wandering solos, you may wish to re-examine your current situation and perhaps make some changes!
