Connecting in Class

If you’re looking for a new, organic way to meet someone, you may be wondering where to begin.  Some people will say online dating is the answer but in reality, it’s been around for more than 10 years.  We think the best way to find love is to love yourself by enjoying the things you like to do or learning something new. Many relationships have started when two people engage in an activity, class or hobby. One thing is for certain, you’ll start off with something in common. Check out my article: How to Connect in Continuing Education Class and see if maybe it’s time for YOU to go back to school.

The Faith Debate?

This article was one of the first pieces that I wrote on the subject of dating and relationships. Interestingly, it’s still one of the most discussed stories, stirring up banter on the online sites where it appears.  The focus is on Christian singles and the article asks the question of whether or not a first date is the appropriate place to bring up faith.  Originally commissioned for Christian dating site, LoveandSeek, The Faith Debate has found its way onto sites such as as Blogher, Divine Caroline and More.

As a writer, it’s great when you can bring out such raw emotion in the reader.

Rekindlers: The New Trend

Imagine breaking up with the love of your life and 10-15 years later, he leaves you an email or voicemail to say, “hello.”  How would it make you feel?  Bitter or hopeful?

It seems that rekindling with an old flame is becoming the new dating trend.  TV Land has a new reality show called, First Love, Second Chance?, a show dedicated to reuniting former lovers.  Before the TV Land original series aired, I wrote an article about people going back to their old high school sweethearts and long lost lovers called Rekindlers: Making Connections after Years Apart. The article provides advice on whether the old lover should be a courtship revival, or extinguished for good.  The article was originally written for Single Edition but also appears on Blogher, YourTango, Divine Caroline and More.

Where to Meet a Mate if You’re Over 48

When you’re in your forties and fifties, it can be challenging to meet someone new but being older doesn’t mean you have to follow the same rules from your younger days.  In fact, age brings new avenues for meeting that that lifelong partner.  I’ve compiled several ideas and put them into my new article, Where to Meet a Mate if You’re Over 48. I hope this will be a good start and help singletons get out into the dating world again.

Money-Saving Tips for Long Distance Lovers

With the economy still in a downturn, everyone is looking for ways to save.  If you’re in a long distance relationship money (or lack thereof) can put a big strain on keeping it together.  Partners need more that just talking on the phone or chatting via email to keep things burning.

After speaking to many long distance couples, I’ve compiled several ways to help long distance lovers stay in touch more often for a lot less.  See for yourself here on Blogher.  Love to hear what you think and if it has helped you or anyone you know.

10 Hip and Hot Celebrity Boomers

We’ve all probably thought to ourselves at one time or another, if I look like a hot celebrity I’d have the man or women of my dreams.  Well, it’s a good thing you’re not in the spotlight because celebrities seem to have a harder time maintaining relationships than we do finding a mate.  Look at their record of accomplishment with multiple marriages and divorces, infidelity, domestic abuse or commitment issues.  No, I’m not aiming that last statement just at George.

However, we did comb the list of eligibles to find celebrities over 48 who are unattached and have become members of the Baby Boomers Club within the last few years.  Check out my recent article, Top 10: Hip & Hot Single Celebrity Baby Boomers on Yahoo Shine.

If you could add to this list, who would you nominate and why?

Meeting Singles in Church

Nowadays, there are more ways than nightclubs and the Internet to meet that special someone.  For Christian going singles, maybe chuch is the answer.  When I was single living in NYC, I started going to church regularly.  I must admit that I was surprised at the multitude of single men sitting in the pews.  Of course, church is intended for worshiping first and foremost but when you’re spirtually and emotionally connected it may lead to an affair of the heart.  For those church going singles, here’s my latest article for SingleEdition.com, Comeback – Meeting Singles in Church. This article also appeared on AOL Personals, Blogher, YourTango, DivineCaroline, and More.com.
